In one of the best Thursday nighters in… well, maybe ever, the Los Angeles Rams beat the Minnesota Vikings in a 38-31 shootout. Rams quarterback Jared Goff passed for 465-yards and threw five touchdown passes. Star running back Todd Gurley posted 83-yards rushing and another 73-yards receiving and scored his sixth touchdown of the season.
All in all, it was an impressive Rams performance and was just enough to beat a resilient Vikings side that didn’t give up on the game, routinely making the score close in the second half. Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 422-yards and three touchdowns himself, but it wasn’t quite enough.
After the game, Gurley wasn’t shy about the Rams’ confidence level.
“Any team can be beat right now, but, nah, we can’t be beat right now. No ifs, ands, or buts about it,” Gurley said on the NFL Network postgame. “Like coach says, we don’t feel pressure, we apply it. That’s our motto.”
The Rams are now 4-0 and already seem like a lock to win the NFC West, which also features trainwrecks like the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks. The San Fransisco 49ers were expected to contend, but they just lost quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for the season to a torn ACL.
