John Mara is getting sick and tired of the Odell Beckham Jr. sideshow.

The talented but cranky New York Giants wideout has always had a strong personality, but has recently made headlines for criticizing his teammates and having a temper tantrum on the sideline during a loss to the Eagles last week on Thursday night. It’s certainly not helping things in New York, where the Giants are a woeful 1-5 so far. And team owner Mara is sick of it.

“I wish he would create the headlines by his play on the field as opposed to what he says and what he does off the field,” Mara reportedly said at the NFL owners meetings. “I think he needs to do a little more playing and a little less talking.”

Giants quarterback Eli Manning is struggling mightily so far this season and Beckham, who recently signed a five-year, $95 million contract extension, has been frustrated by his usage. He only has a single touchdown this season, although still ranks in the top-ten in total receiving yards with 506.

Mara also spread the blame around, knowing that it’s more than his offensive stars who aren’t performing.

“When you’re 1-5, it generally means everybody has to play better,” Mara said.
