The beard is not just the ubiquitous facial hair of the NHL playoffs anymore.

The San Jose Sharks Joe Thornton and Brent Burns have been sporting gnarly beards all season, to the point they probably mistaken for Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame.

The Sharks marketing team has seized on the opportunity to feature their superstars and famous whiskers in a spot to get sell tickets. The result, wherein they cheer for a bearded Average Joe in a barber shop is hilarious.

San Jose is currently third in the Pacific Division with 54 points, well into a playoff spot. Burns is having a Norris Trophy caliber season, with 18 goals and 27 assists, leading all defencemen in scoring and good for fifth overall. Thornton is playing his usual solid hockey, with three goals and 24 assists.

The Sharks, for the record, have averaged 17,509 fans per game, or 99.7 percent of capacity through 22 games. This commercial ought to convince the undecided 0.3 to come out.
