The New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins, both locked in a battle for second in the Metropolitan Division, got some good news, bad news today.

The Rangers, who are 5-5 in their last 10 and have dropped their last two games, got the good news. Mika Zibanejad, who missed 25 games with a broken fibula, will draw back into the line-up for a game against Dallas Tuesday.

The first year Ranger (he was acquired from Ottawa in a trade for Derick Brassard) was on an early season tear, scoring 15 points in 19 games before going down to injury in mid-November.

For the Pittsburgh Penguins, who are on a three-game losing skid, the news was all bad.

Defenceman Kris Letang is officially week-to-week with a lower body injury he suffered in a loss to Detroit on the weekend. It’s believed to be a left knee injury he sustained after getting tangled up with Detroit’s Thomas Vanek.

Letang has 23 points in just 30 games, as he’s missed 12 other games this season due to injury.
