The Winnipeg Jets are about to find out what life without rookie sensation Patrik Laine is like.
The no. 2 overall pick in the 2016 draft was rocked by Buffalo’s Jake McCabe during a 4-3 loss on Saturday and has since been diagnosed with a concussion. His return to the line-up is up in the air.

“He has a concussion. He will start the stages of recovery with that,” said Jets head coach Paul Maurice in an interview with the Winnipeg Sun. “We will wait until the symptoms subside and then you start increasing the workload and getting back on the ice.”
“There can’t be (a timeline) on any of these (concussions).”
Laine is off to a hot start to his NHL career and is leading all rookie scorers with 37 points. Laine is also tied with no. 1 overall pick Auston Matthews in goals with 21.
The Jets are currently three points out of a wild card playoff spot in the Western Conference and have a pretty tough January schedule ahead of them, including seven games against Western opponents ahead of them in the standings.
