Fire up the rotisserie leagues, football fans, the NFL regular season will soon be upon us.
On Thursday, Sept. 8, the re-match of Super Bowl finalists Carolina and Denver kicks the season off. You can bet that Cam Newton and the Panthers will be looking for some payback to the Peyton Manning-less Broncos, who’ll start Trevor Siemian at quarterback. Good luck, kid.
After that contest, there will be a full slate on Sunday, Sept. 11 and two Monday nighters.
Some old faces in new places will be looking to make an impact right away, like Josh Norman. The newly minted Washington Redskins DB will have his hands full covering the likes of Antonio Brown in the first Monday night tilt against visiting Pittsburgh.
Speaking of Brown (spoiler alert!), the Steelers’ all-star wide receiver will be looking to re-claim the receiving yards crown he relinquished to Atlanta’s Julio Jones last year (1,871 yards to 1,834).
Brown is but one of 15 players we believe will have huge fantasy impact this season. Here they are, in no particular order.
Teddy Bridgewater’s season-ending injury this week will have an impact on the Vikings’ offence, that is certain. However, we don’t see a significant dip in the number of touches Adrian Peterson gets. The NFL’s rushing yards leader in 2015 had no ill effects from a lost 2014 season and will get things cranked up again when Minnesota visits Tennessee on Sept. 11. The Titans were 22nd worst against the run last year, so a 100-yard (+) effort out of the chute is not outside the realm of possibility. “Purple Jesus” led all running backs in attempts by a wide margin in 2015 with 327 (Doug Martin was second at 288) and with Shaun Hill likely handling QB duties, that number might even jump. He also found the end zone 11 times, tying him with four other RB’s for the league lead.
