At 29, an athlete may be considered “mature” and “in his prime”, but rarely are they considered “retirement material.”

In a fairly funny video for Barstool Sports, for who he will now be working, Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee made a surprise retirement announcement after only eight seasons in the league.

The Pittsburgh native plumbed his comedic depths in the spot, which also featured cameos from teammate Adam Vinatieri and Carolina TE Greg Olsen.

McAfee, a two-time Pro Bowler and graduate of West Virginia, led the NFL in gross punting average at 49.3 yards this past season, earning the second all-star nod. However, he had to sit out the Pro Bowl because of impending knee surgery, the third time he’ll have to go under the knife in four years.

He retires with two years left on his current contract and cited the knee problems as a major factor in his decision.
