Just call this a super-sized deal.
The Charlotte Hornets (8th, 23-27) and Milwaukee Bucks (10th, 21-27), have reached a trade agreement that would see the Bucks Miles Plumlee (6’11”) go to Charlotte for Roy Hibbert (7’2″) and Spencer Hawes (7’1″), according to a report by ESPN.
The Bucks had been rumored to be considering a frontcourt move, though the addition of Hibbert and Hawes is not something many in the know might have expected.
Hibbert, 30, is on a one-year deal for $5 million this season, averaging 5.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 16 minutes a game. Hawes, 29, who has a $6 million option for 2017-18, has averaged 7.3 PPG and 4.2 rebounds in just under 18 minutes per game.
Looked at another way, the deal could be viewed as a win for Milwaukee, as it gets them out from under the four-year $50-million contract given to Plumlee last summer. Plumlee, 28, now in his fifth season, has started 12 of 32 games, scoring 2.6 points and grabbing 1.7 rebounds. He’ll provide depth at center in Charlotte, which is missing Cody Zeller due to injury.
