Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to mourn the passing of Steven Adams’ ankles, who were brutally murdered in the second quarter of basketball game Thursday night in Denver.

The ankles were desperately trying to contain Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray when they were attacked with a series of handles, feints, and jab steps before ultimately succumbing to the violence perpetrated against them. As Adams crumpled to the floor, Murray rubbed salt in the wound by nailing a step-back three that put the Nuggets up by 18 points.

Friends and well-wishers can send their condolences to Chesapeake Energy Arena, where we assume the Oklahoma City Thunder will be holding some sort of wake or memorial for their fallen teammate and his deceased ankles.

RIP, ankles.
